Bernardo Silva

There are no options on the market.

Who are you suggesting to buy?

Would ideally have to be someone that wouldn't cost an insane amount of money. I've mentioned someone like Jeremy Doku before. Sure he's had some injuries, but I don't think it's really that worrying. Explosive players tend to have some injuries like this when they're young. Most of
them get better as they get older while some end up like Robben and Dembele. It's not easy to predict.

Ligue 1 while not being a great league overall does tend to be more physical too.

Someone like Nico Williams *might* be interesting too even though I'm not that convinced, but he fits the right profile.

That is about 10m more on books than Messi wanted.

Would be absurd to give that money on books towards signing Silva at 29.

Gundagon + Bernardo = Messi wage wise basically.

Well Messi would have been on % profits (or what he increased or whatever) too. But still a hell of alot for these two.

Still Messi had likely decided before Barca talks given Busi exit, and then Alba after all confirmed.

The cost on books for those two together if those rumours are correct would be closer to double what Messi was being said to get.

Bernardo had Alphonso Davies on toast a couple months back.

But in general, Barca do need someone with raw speed. Problem is, there isn’t many about.

Bernardo has one thing going for him. He's not fast, as in athletic, but he has quick feet. Like Messi did. That's why he can turn defenders.

Still a bad deal imo, because these players from City benefit a great deal from a highly efficient system, built with many world class players left and right. It's not them individually that do these things, like Mbappe does for example.

You just have to take this into account.

Bernardo doesnt dribble all that much for City.

At least not in terms of taking players on. He more holds onto ball out wide and keeps possession than taking players on.

At least he did last season when playing wide.

Grealish was much the better dribbler on other side.

Bernardo had no real pace to take players on with when fronting up.

He doesn't dribble like Mbappe or Vinicius, but generates space on the wing. That's valuable when you have elite players like De Bruyne and Haaland nearby, not so much if he has to be a focal point.

And he can score obviously. Quite big goals in big moments. Bad signing for us at this moment though. The team needs things City already have in spades to make Bernardo valuable.

Barca don't even have a rightback lol.

He doesnt generate much through carrying ball or dribbling though.

Certainly not compared to Grealish on other side.

Bernardo was more involved in build up and working defensively than that really.

His impact in final third was not all that great bar odd game.
