Put it into the 'See I told you thread' if you want. Dani will be much, much better this season. Tata's moronic tactics killed him last season.

P.S. He might have been benched by Maicon, but how did that turn out for Brazil?
Tata's tactics killed him but he was as bad with Tito and Scolari as well...

Alves is well past it although he might have some glimpses of his old self with the team pressing and clicking right.

Of course Dani will be better. Everyone will be better this season in a half decent playing style. But there are some things that are totally unrelated to the playing style, like accuracy of his crosses, poor positioning, no backtracking/lack of effort

It doesnt matter if he is good at crosses or not, the worlds best crossers wouldnt help, because all you have up front are midgets. Well, Suarez might change that.

It's true that Alves doesn't have the pace that used to open things up for Barca a few years ago, but he's still a good reliable right back. He can defend, if asked, and his retention is as good as any right back today. I don't know where people get the idea that his crosses are poor - is it because there's no one at the end of them?! Nobody's at the end of crosses at Barca for the last three or so years!

Yes, Montoya or whoever is Alves' replacement should play more to prepare for Alves' eventual departure, but Alves is still good enough for now.

Luis Enrique told Alves he counts on him for this season, both on and off the pitch. Player is confident ahead of the new season. [l'esp]

Good news. But, knowing Luis Enrique, Alves needs to be smarter when going forward if he wants to be a starter.
