Daniel Alves

Alves is a top professional, It's very unlikely that his performance will drastically drop during next two or three years. Physically, Dani is a perfect prototype of full back and on top of that his technical side is great as well as his game reading. His crosses are not that good, but it seems that we are denying an obvious reality - Dani is the best right back in the history of Barca. Looking at todays players, it's more and more frequent that they are playing well above their 30s, I personally think that Dani will stay at top level until he is 35, just like Cafu. Finding his replacement is impossible task, just give him what he is searching for, I really do think he deserved it. Also, he is one of the favorite players to scapegoat when Barca is loosing and he got that perfectly right at the press conference.

RB position is very physically demanding, Lahm is 31 and Pep is already playing him in midfield, unless Lucho is planning to use him as midfielder, 3 year extension is a huge risk.

And that was a mistake IMO. And apparently many bayern fans share the same.

Lahm is Bayern best RB even right now. Dunno why Pep thinks otherwise.

I believe Lahm himself said that he is more comfortable as a midfielder, maybe he feels that he doesn't have stamina anymore for RB position.

He's having one good half-season in 3 years. Sorry if I missed something.

I can think of players that haven't played well in years that are defended to the hilt on this forum. Players that, unlike Alves, have never returned to their best form.

Finally someone who says it like it is. Even if you look at his entire run at FCB, he's had three good seasons, three bad ones, and this one, that's 50/50. Yet so many people seem to pretend that his decline is only "recent". That "recent" part is about half of his career at the club.

He says that he feels disrespected by the board because they said that he was money-whoring. He then said that its not about money, but about appreciation and respect.
Yet he has refused to sign the latest contract offer because of the explicit reason of receiving not enough money, while being heavily linked to PSG. His words were "the president knows what he has to do to keep me". This is what I have read about the issue.

Okay, I dont know every detail and word that has been said in that whole affair, Alves might be right about the disrespect he received, but on the first look it seems as if the board is actually right about him. Not with the disrespectful treatment but with their core statement.

No, because I happen to like the player that I'm alluding to. I just don't think it's fair how people can use an argument against Alves that completely contradicts their support for somebody else.

None of our other players, at their worst, were/are as bad as Alves was at his worst. Or at least none who were consistently played in the starting XI. For several seasons in a row, Alves was by far and easily our weakest player in the starting XI. Yet he acts as if he's been Messi.

Yes. It's obviously about money. "The president knows what he has to do to keep me." I wonder what that is? Write him a love letter? He held the conference in hope of disguising what's happening behind the scenes, but he did the exact opposite.

Besides, at this point, after him being this blunt about his conflict with the club, I can't see them offering him a better deal or kissing and making up with him in any other way. But in the off chance that they do, they must really be idiots. What they need to do know is stand their ground, make no other offer, or pull the current offer off the table completely, and escort Alves out with dignity, which he obviously didn't want to do on his own.

It´s his feelings. Evra is 34 and h´s rockin.
Alves thinks too much of himself. He talks like the board was offering 100 euros a month...Stop the whining Alves and be a man. If you want to leave just go but be sure of somthing: from Barça is a downhill for you.
