You voted for Dembele vs Mbappe in that poll... come on.. be open about it .

I did, so what's your point? Dembele had more to his locker but injuries and mentality have derailed his progress. Mbappe was basically nothing more than a fast winger with acceptable finishing at that point.

Scouts for many clubs saw the same.

Relax, it's all good fun. We're not gonna get anywhere near Mbappe, nor Haaland anyway.

I'm relaxed.

As much as I want halaand I wouldn't take either of them at this point in time with the $ being quoted. we are not in a financial position to be risking the club.

Ive been openly vocal on big money signings as they are imo often not worth it.

Most winning teams have their stars who are among better players in the world. Including Liverpool and Bayern who are this forum's new role models. Liverpool brought in Alisson and VVD for whom they paid either record fees or close to, then there were Salah, Mane, and Firmino. Bayern developed some of the best players in the world in their respective positions but also heavily relied on Lewa.

How you get your stars is another matter but signing the right one could speed up our rebuilding process significantly. High price doesn't automatically mean failure either, even if there've been plenty of such cases.

For a financially healthy club, 300m package for Haaland seems an acceptable risk and I'm sure Barca would offer the same if in position.

Barca would've signed Mbappe if wasn't rejected. He was always going to be the better of the two.

serghei: You like to reference Liverpools model, but they also got van Dijk for close to 90m. That's a galactico defender if I have ever seen one (irrelevant that we sponsored him).

That's where you get it totally wrong.
VVD was never a 'galactico' even more the time he was transferred in at Liverpool.
Do you know how low wage he was getting first contract at Liverpool in 2018? around 100,000 per week, more or less 5m per year

You are conflating the concept of a top player with that of a galactico, like many others here to surreptitiously sneak the 'everyone is buying galacticos' line, which is 100% untrue. If every top player was a Galactico, every top club would have quite a lot of them, but that ain't the case.
Galactico model is a model, first and foremost.
A model that has miserably failed and continues to fail around, while other models like Livepool's and Bayern's show the way of how to do it, but get overlooked

An interesting read on Halaand and his fit in City

Top read!
When I questioned his fit in the football Xavi is teaching, I listed many of these points, like his bad technique, link-up, dribbling

But it's even more evident when wondering how he would fit at City.
He will def. make City of 2020-22 worse as a team, brining down their level of cohesion and control of a game to compensate that with qualities they probably don't even need!

what you need to have to be a winning club is a wage structure, if not it creates tensions in the squad, you can get away with it if you have a really ATG like Messi but otherwise it wont work.
