Frenkie de Jong

Leaks mean nothing as anyone involved with FDJ contract knows absolutely zero chance Barca pay 30m on the books for FDJ to sit in stand.

It literally benefits no one and Barca in no financial position to do that.

They would give him letter of freedom long before that ever happens and both sides know it.

Club has nothing to lose.
If De Fraud goes down that route, the club will pay the 30m either case.
Hence, it's better to send a clear message of the declared strategy to everyone than let again players/agents having it their way.
Besides, Bernal and Casado are ahead of him in the starting XI, so we won't lose on the pitch either.

The player also has a lot to lose (WC '26 and his career in general by not playing football for a season), and I doubt he will take the hard stance on this

Yes they do.. there is no way whatsoever the club choose to pay 30m on the books for FDJ in the stand as opposed to him even leaving for free.

No one with any sense involved believes that.

Both would lose.. as I said.. Which is why has no chance of ever happening.

Going by the B team it does seem the club is saying sign or sit once you contract enters a certain point.

Whether they can pull it off for the first team is a different story, time will tell.

You don't go by the B Team, but by what the club itself leaks to the press:

Barcelona could exile Frenkie de Jong from the squad and send him to the stands if he refuses to leave or renew his contract. —

No.. the club constantly speak shit in press.

Did same with Dembele.. anyone with slightest idea could see it for what it was Posturing that they would never stick to as made no sense.

He wouldnt 'refuse to leave' anyway. So irrelevant.

No one in their right mind believes he would 'refuse to leave'

It makes no sense for that to be the case at all.

He would leave on his terms knowing club wont pay 30m on books for him to sit in stand.

I think I made a clear point:

You think he is good on the pitch. He is not, but let's put that aside. Let's say he contributes 0 on the pitch.

What does the club have to lose?
Stands or pitch, he gets the 30m and leaves on a free. Financially, the two situations are identical.
If he does not make the difference on the pitch, and others like Casado or Bernal do a better job than him, club has NOTHING to lose, but many to gain by that stance

No... he would not refuse to leave and he and club would both accept letter of freedom before ever that scenario.,

Like Dembele.. doesnt matter what club claims inpress. It is designed for certain folk to lap it up.

Don't think it's that simple.

He knows he can collect the 30m of his last year, sing-on bonus by another club, and new wage at the next club.
Financially he has to gain by that strategy

He wont get 30m... that would be his cost on books.

He would get around 18-20 including.

Would get paid plenty elsewhere..there is zero chance he refuses to leave for free in that scenario.

In the end signed Garcia, Depay, Sergio Araujo, Christensen, Gundy, Kessie on free transfers.

Would be silly to exile Frenkie if he chooses to leave on one.

Try to make some money, try to renew, but if he doesn't then make use of him while he is here.

Come next season business end, if he doesn't hold a pivotal squad role, then by all means stop utilizing.

But this is a new trend in football where we will sign many more for free then what we will lose.

Only oil money PSG and City can give him wage comparable to Bartomeu's and that's with question marks given his ankle

Plus, the sing-on bonus factors in as well

It has absolutely zero chance of happening. It makes absolutely no sense for the club to do it and waste 20-30m of FFP money.

There isn't such universal standpoint on the issue.
Every club fights for their own interests.
NO, they won't 'understand' it

To get same as he gets at Barca it would be 15m annual salary. He would get that without a doubt in salary and signing on fees.
