It's a waste that Neymar didn't score. I'm impressed with the young Dongou lately. Makes me feel like he was kinda wasted as a talent in Barca B last year. He barely played.

Once a year (when we get eliminated by the Chelseas or Inters in this world) the debate about the plan B pops up. Can Dongou be our plan B? How good is he in the air?

not very good in the air, he is a barca player he likes playing with his feet, but he would offer a plan b, in the he will make the runs a traditional 9 makes and what not

Remember how we used Villa to occupy CB's as a #9 last year vs Milan? Dongou can do that except provide more speed, strength, and dynamic ability in scoring goals if needed while he's in that role. He probably won't be too involved while he's there, but he likely will get a couple of chances and he could bury them if he's in the right position for it. Otherwise maybe if he trains for shot power and aerial ability he could act as a muscly target man in some occasions or score from outside the box. All of these provide qualities that we would "need" in a plan B.

I just love this kid and because of Tito we had to wait another year to see him finally play.

Graham Hunter once wrote

“Dongou, small and Mike Tyson-powerful, is without question the most awe-inspiring player I have ever seen at his age. When I witnessed Messi at the same stage of his development, it later transpired that he was a little bit sulky at being forced to play on the wing in the game I went to watch and, consequently, I came away unimpressed.

But having watched Dongou for several months – aged both 15 and 16 – I have to warn the next couple of generations of defenders that they should start having nightmares now just to get in practice.

The Cameroon-born striker has the low centre of gravity that made Romario so hard to contain, the ability to calculate an acute angle of snooker champion proportions, and an explosive eruption of pace reminiscent of a cobra’s head darting forward to attack.”

Well that sounds like he's an OK player.

I still hope he plays a couple of seasons for Barca B. Playing time is what he needs and we dont want to have another Bojan.

I like Graham, as a writer...He's got no track record assessing players nevermind Barcelona cantera ones - Dongou is an example of Hunter's talent for hyperbole

The things to be excited with Dongou are obvious, he's moved around and dominated on every youth level at the club - although he has yet to truly break out with the B team...He's the kind of goalscorer the team is glaringly lacking, a physical & skilled forward who can wreak havoc on the central defenders - relentless...He's got Pedro like worth ethic and skills that at times are jaw dropping...Curious how well he can hold the ball up with his back to goal, on this level

I think he's extremely raw still though, impossible to gauge how good he could be come, IMO...While it's true he could become special, I haven't seen it consistent enough to be worthy of Graham's droolings - which, for me, underscores how little Graham understands football

probably because you haven't seen him consistently enough

More like Hunter demonstrating his football ignorance by underrating Messi...Anyone who failed to see the obvious with Leo either had an agenda or don't understand the game

Not really the case, others like Frank De Boer have said the same about Messi.

It seems like back then the club new his ability but there was many youth games etc where he didnt quite fancy it as much and if you caught him on those days you would miss the player he would become.
