Been reading the 2014 thread and it is…interesting.
The main talking point, even before the final was that Leo was suffering from fitness issues, the vomiting etc. Those were truly sad times.
Many people said that he wasn‘t the same like 2009-2012 (which was true) and that there was probably no way back. That he maybe had one more chance in Russia.
Granted, regardless of the outcome on Sunday, we should be grateful for how things played out.
Leo came back from the 2014 WC and chose violence. Probably his best version ever in 2015, then a step back in 2016 and then 3 great seasons between 2017 and 2019 (more or less). And even after that, there were still many moments/periods of magic, including the 2021 Copa. Could have won a CL or two more, but it is what it is
All in all, no one can take away the magic and all the beautiful moments. Let‘s
hope that he can add a final chapter to this beautiful story on Sunday.
Thank goodness Alvarez exists. It should be him, Messi and Di Maria starting
Di Maria should stay on the bench, he has barely played in this WC and has fitness issues. Don‘t fix something if it ain‘t broken. Throw him in in the second half if Arg need a goal.
