sounds like a education novel... and it is. no seriously varane is no Nesta, at the moment!!!

Nesta was owned by Ronaldo in 98 UEFA cup final. Then the result meant a lot to Lazio unlike Madrid yesterday whose many players(Varane included) were embarrassing .1 bad match does not prove anything .

The kid has his own match compilations on internet ,even if he is a centre-back .

Varane had a bad game yesterday but Gala forced Madrid to make a lot of mistakes. In those 15-30 minutes where we literally owned them, Mesut, Ronaldo and the likes were not seen on the field. They couldn't manage to pass the ball among 3-4 players. As a matter of fact, Varane and his colleagues, who first were very confident, started to be over secure, shooting the ball out instead of passing it to the best co-player. Drogba gave him a hard time, Sneijder missed the first. In his second attempt, he got owned. And in the 3rd goal, magic was done by Drogba, once again. A great game. Can't really blame Varane, as his team was not better. Especially Pepe, who is renowned to be a among the best defenders got owned by Amrabat in the penalty area very easily.

After all, this guy has it all to become one of the best. He is super strong tactically and physically. He'll get better with experience, which is very important for a defender anyway. I don't think he's over hyped though.

Tough but useful lesson for him yesterday, only few people have been able to handle Drogbas physical game, Vidic use to hanlde him most times when they use to face each other, Pique in the 08-09 season, Lucio in 09-10 season and Puyol in the previous meetings prior to last years meeting

LOL

Try playing when you are 4-0 up and the other team need to score 5 goals in 30 minutes..

you lot read a lot into this.. the tie was over just because everyone started walking and never bothering doesn't mean it was due to X or Y excellence ..
where was that excellence for the first 60 minutes ?

given all three Galatasary goals were brilliant but reading too much into it is hilarious to say the least :D

What is hilarious is how eager they are to point out his negatives. I mean they were anxiously waiting for him to have a bad game so they can point it out after he has denied them time and time again the chance. The goals that he 'allowed' were because the players he faced are pure experience.

Hold your horses. It's not like he's a bad player due to one bad game (if it was bad), it's natural for him not to know every trick in the book yet, he's only 19 years old after all.

Even though he was left looking a tad out of his depth by the Drog last night, there's not a club in Europe not punching themselves repeatedly in the head for missing out on him. Could have been Puyol's successor for the next 16 years.

Funny thing is, nobody actually said he was poor or something similar. The closest thing was Doobs saying "schooled" which to some extend is still true. Everybody else basically said that it's nothing to be ashamed of or that he's a great prospect nevertheless.

Madrid fans are so insecure. See what I did there?

No doubt Varane has an incredibly bright future and even had a couple good moments vs Dortmund but he showed that he's not as good as people have been making him out to be. He was absolutely tortured by Reus and Lewandowski.
