Not exactly, there wasn't a xavi role before xavi. Samper has the potential to be good enough (Atleast i believe) to impress his playing style on a team when he plays for them, he's already done it in the first team when he got his two games.

Rafinha can handle the job if it's only one injury if its two then we might have a problem :lol: I think Samper would be the best cm substitute but idk if Lucho would play him over Roberto.

Defensively Roberto is better and his short passing game is as good as anyone's. Samper's skills are more suited for Xavi's position which currently doesn't exist and is shared between Iniesta/Rakitic.

Arda has great technical ability and the gap probably isn't that big in that regard but the difference when it comes to vision is enormous imo. I never really see Arda playing pinpoint accurate throughballs most of the time anyway.

This is assuming Koke was ever an option, he has repeatedly stated that he wants to stay at Atleti and has told us to shove off already. If we wanted to buy a young midfielder from Atletico we should have gone for Torres since he doesn't fit their system. Although idk if that'll ever happen now...

For a player of his quality in this market he's pretty cheap, and honestly I rather by him for 41 mil and keep Rafinha for the future than buy Pogba for 100m, with that 59m we can keep players happy with some extra wages and maybe reinforce other positions.

If Lucho wants him we would have gotten him no matter what no sensible board would deny a relatively cheap player to a treble winning coach. I just hope lucho has his eye on the future with Rafinha still.

Atleast this signing won't affect Rafinha for the first half of the season, he'll have all his old mins + xavi's to prove himself and hopefully he can stay. It'd be sad if he leaves considering the improvement he made with the paltry mins he was given last season.
